Tielemans

Going back to King Power my understanding is that the current duty free deal expires next year and they are currently going through the bidding process result to be announced in September . So may well be a continuation KP have to be in a very strong position for lots of reasons .

Top's family are supporting the opposition against the current military leaders. And it's the current military leaders who get to choose who gets the duty free gig. And they already unilaterally took it away from Top. I'm a little skeptical the bidding process will be free and fair. It's all too precarious at the moment.

Its not a bad old place all considered.

It's a longer walk down to the beach in your wet suit to catch a wave or two though....

Biggest issue for us would be Spurs losing Eriksen.... well that and us needing to use Silva as part of the deal because we no way could buy a £40m player.

Any outgoing players have to be taken into account also. At least one player will leave for a large amount.

What makes you say that?  What is it that makes you think Spurs could spend £40M on a player and we could not?

God I hope not or he'll never come! Let me think now, Gallowtree Gate and the Clocktower with people sleeping in doorways and drunks pissing up shop windows with the Highcross, Wetherspoons, Liquid and Venom to visit ... or a tiny independent state with harbours, luxury hotels, nightclubs and restaurants with a Mediterranean coastline. It's a close run thing! ???

He isn’t going back to Monaco though, place might be nice but he isn’t particularly welcomed at the club.

More like Leicester vs London/Manchester/Milan etc..

Why couldn’t we buy a 40m player? We spent 23m on Soyuncu and 12m for Danny Ward and both combined have less than 10 appearances for the club. Benkovic cost 12m (I think?) and was loaned to Celtic after one appearance. That’s nearly 50m spent “frivolously” right there. Silva’s fee would constitute 15-20m of the price and don’t forget we also made a 40m bid for Gylfi Sigurdsson two seasons ago too. Yes last season we were boosted by the Mahrez money but we are hardly up against it thanks to our brilliant owners.

We could definitely afford him, though perhaps it would mean he’s our only marquee signing and we’d have to skrimp and save elsewhere. But our squad is in good shape at the moment plus I bet we could easily loan a good player from a European competing team after the success of Tielemans.

It also makes sense though. We invested heavily in the academy. We're expanding the stadium. And we know the the duty free gig is going away. And we know the wage bill was huge (hopefully a little less now). There simply isn't a great source of income compared to previous seasons.

I asked this previously. What is King Power's other source of income besides their currently very lucrative duty free buisness? They own horses. They own two football teams. Unless there's a source of income we don't know about then I suspect when the duty free empire goes away then we will be most profitable part of the empire.

And that means any money we need for Tielemans will need to come from us, either through selling a player or getting a loan based on estimated future earnings. Our estimated future earnings can't be much more than other mid table teams. We could get a loan on the fact that Chilwell, Barnes, Hamza and perhaps another are huge pluses on our books.

They own hotels and various other businesses. They've not pumped their own money in to LCFC for several years, it doesnt make much difference unless we were suddenly in trouble which I can't see why we would be

I dread to think what life insurance policies Vichai had as well.

We spent way more than that on fringe players. I'd not rule it out, especially on an exceptional player.

A £40m player is nothing to a Top half club nowadays with £150m worth of TV revenue per season.

Plus with amortisation for FFP purposes, a £40m player on a 5 year deal only costs £8m per season in the accounts.

As long as you're not throwing around £100k+ per week on the entire team then it's not a problem financially.

We were talking about bringing in the LB at Celtic to replace Chilwell when he goes, seems like this would take care of things in a fairly straightforward fashion. Or someone like Mendy has real value at this point, prob could get a quick 20 mill if a Prem team needs a destroyer. If we got a hot bid for Maguire, great, we have a number of young CBS waiting in the wings.

Besides, while Tiel has been strong for us, surely we can track down another player or two with his skill set? We should be looking for young understudies for him even if we sign him, he isn't a long-term solution. BR knows what he needs, we have significant assets even if we lack significant cash (which seems incredibly unlikely in any event), we have more than enough to improve the squad significantly by moving Maguire, Chilwell, and Mendy, with Chilwell being the only player of those 3 we'd need to replace from outside the club.

For those of us who remember, muzzy was too good for us too

what? no he wasn’t. we got him from chelsea reserves- never played a game for them. we were quoted a fee of £60,000 but wanted him on loan first, he played well and the fee rose to £600,000

If he moves over here, I will potentially move to London or Manchester. A number of our squad already do live in those two cities

Those who feel tierney is good enough .... Scottish football doesn’t look too hot on the international stage .....I wouldn’t be too confident

and Tielemans a starter for the highest rated int side in world football .......is he good enough for us though ??

We need to get him enjoying his game, his training and his family life big time over the next six weeks to have the smallest shot of convincing him to come here.  There will be plenty of competition for his signature.....
