New training ground is meant to be one of the best in the world. Not just saying that as a Leicester fan. Young talented side with players who will get better with the right coaching. Superb chairman who clearly loves the club as much as we do and lets the manager get on with his job with his full support and backing. 32,000+ fans every home game and superb away following. With stadium capacity to be increased. Potential for champions league / definite European football next season. Due to Maguire sale lots of money available for the manager if he wants to spend on players he sees can improve an already highly talented and experienced side. Rodgers has everything he needs here. I do have a bit of sympathy and it may well be something we face next season. There are occasions when, to the detrement of individual clubs, unsympathetic build up of fixtures occur when they could perhaps be managed better by the powers that be. A example would be this ridiculous World Club match (whatever the correct name is) that Liverpool have to play. Ok, you could argue that that's part of territory you enter if you're successful but, nevertheless, it's just an absolutely meaningless competition to most European teams cycnically dreamt up to make certain governing bodies more money. Personally, if I was Klopp I'd just send a bunch of kids but he's probably hamstrung by rules and can't. Fans can't start complaining about their teams not taking certain competitions seriously when physically speaking, a manager can't keep playing his deemed best first 11. Yes, I'm aware it's a squad game but the way it's going, clubs will essentially require two 'first teams' with both the expense and potential player unrest that could go with that. We are not a wealthy club if compared with a Man City/Real Madrid etc and we are aware that a club our size, should it qualify for Europe, will undoubtedly be affected by a build up of fixtures, it happened to us last time and also to Wolves. Should we accept that teams like us should merely attempt European qualification every two or three years due to the impossibility of managing Europe, Premiership and a plethora of cups or, should we reasonably expect our governing body to at least be as sympathetic and organised as possible? The only way we sell someone like Chilwell in January will be on our terms, bids will have to start at £100m. The Premier League was once 24 teams meaning 46 fixtures, the League Cup early rounds were double legged, the World Club Cup was a game in November/December held in Tokyo, the European Super Cup was a double legged fixture, FA Cup fixtures were replayed until a conclusion. I have just looked and in Man U's triple winning season they played 63 games which is ironically how many games Liverpool will have to play if they want to pull of the same feat (and finish the League Cup in the Quarters as they did) The main fundamental change has been the increase in European fixtures to which the big clubs wanted and are now pushing for even more bloated competition. Man U played 8 games in the FA Cup, well replays are all but gone. They played 11 games in Champions League but Liverpool would play an additional two. This issue around this fixture clash stems from the introduction of the Winter Break - that's meant that they have made an additional December midweek game. Without starting earlier (and the PL is already one of the earliest European leagues to start) or not having a winter break, there is no way to fit all fixtures in without causing a pile up. You could always remove PL teams from the League Cup or scrap it altogether? Abolish replays of FA Cup games in any round (currently not until the 5th Round is it?).
