5. Sold off the Social Housing stock.

6. Waged an ideological crusade against the most vulnerable in society on the pretence of 'balancing the books'.

7. ****ed our mining industry and the miners resulting in, ultimately the UK having to buy increasingly expensive coal from ironically, some Socialist dictatorship countries.

Wait so the guy everyone was saying was the real PM and pulling all the strings has been sent packing with nothing but a cya and a card board box?

Good stuff. Curious as to why though, you'd think if you'd defend the bloke being a bell and driving around willy nilly that it would take something of nuclear proportions to send him on his way.

One interesting theory someone suggested to me earlier: Maybe he’s gone because the top echelons of the Tory party (ie Michael Gove) have decided that, internally at least, the possibility of No Deal is now off the table because of the pandemic. Therefore Cummings’ raison d'être is no longer relevant.

It's just a bloody laugh to these utter *****. Desperately sad that they've managed to con enough of an entire country to go along with shit that they don't give a toss about.

Damage is done and they'll all wander off laughing and never pay any price.

I'm confused.

Johnson hires Cain as chief of staff.
Symonds opposed to that.

Cain/Cummings briefed against her.

Johnson doesn't like that and fires them.

How stupid am I being in missing something there?

What has labour done? That caused us to elect thatcher 3 times

1979   43 seat majority

1983 144 seat majority

1989 102 seat majority

John Majors marority in 1992 was 21

Thatcher is seen by many as Britains most hated prime minister but the results dont echoe this.

The fall of labour in 1979 lead to 18 years of conservatism the defeat of Brown in 2010 means we have potentially 15 years of conservatism this time and the are many labour luddites that dont think that new labour was labour at all even though it was their most successful spell at winning and holding on to power.

I think the cyber Remainers peeing themselves now Biden's president-elect and Cummings has gone are being rather optimistic.

The Cummings leaving no10 through the front door has to be the most obviously staged pr stunt my eyes have beheld.

Any idea when we had the last "socialist" Labour government? The 1970s?

And some were surprised that Corbyn's hard left mob got blown away last year.

Those on the right of the Tory party have always recognised that you need to be in govt to really change things.  Those on the left of the Labour Party have never been able to get this basic fact. yes you can protest and occasionally that protest will grab the public mood and you get a ‘win’ but you have to govern to elicit real change.  Blair and his cronies got it. Starmer gets it. that’s why starmer probably wins next time unless there is someone in the Tory party that I’m unaware of .....

The biggest hope for a Labour govt is that the Tories' ace card - economic competence - has been exploded as a myth, with the Brexit shitshow still to impact on us.

What makes you so sure the Red Wall would be rebuilt out of interest? I don't live there or really follow polling that much, but I imagined those communities switched to Conservatives because they are more socially conservative and wanted Brexit delivered. I don't see how that's changed massively.

The two big factors in the Red Wall turning blue, Corbyn and Brexit, are no longer relevant. I said on 13th December that this was an uneasy arrangement built on sand, and I've seen nothing to change my mind.

Firstly, either Brexit was done on 31st January or is now set to become either an economy wrecking cluster**** or an enormous u-turn on electoral pledges as the possibility of a US trade deal can only come with a soft Brexit. None of these options appear to be the same rallying call the Tories used to such great effect in December.

Secondly, the Red Wall hated Corbyn because his past represented the complete antithesis of their social conservatism. Where Corbyn was perceived to have stood with the IRA, Starmer spent much of his previous career putting them in prison. Where Corbyn was perceived as weak on antisemitism, Starmer has been decisive. He's even refusing to get involved in the culture wars that Johnson craves. In short, he's someone far more palatable to the Red Wall than his predecessor.

Thirdly, the treatment of the North could be fairly described as a betrayal. The Burnham affair was deeply unedifying and resurrected old narratives of the Tories vs The North, and those notions aren't going away any time soon.

Can see Cummings coming back under any Gove leadership bid (although I think Gove for PM would be doomed). Either that or he’s positioned himself for a role at semi-governmental advisory consultancy.

There’s a quite simple point that Tories have been in power for a considerable period and now they have ran out of competent persons who can take cabinet roles. Left with the dregs now. No adults left.
