Pretty good today, and shut up the little minge scrapes who had claimed after the Spurs game he was done for. He's already a first team player for next season and rightly so.

He managed one of the best youngsters and one of the best RB's in the league incredibly well. Hasn't looked out of place at all.

Been very impressed with him, some great crosses, hasn't looked overawed and doesn't panic. Hopefully a bright future for the lad.

I was worried about him today but he handled the pressure, didn’t do anything out of the ordinary but that was what was required of him today, take care at the back

Difference is that Chilwell is capable of controlling a ball with his right foot though even if he can do naff all else with it. Thomas is suspect and susceptible to miscontrolling when it comes onto his right, his balance in that sense needs to be improved. You can get away with this at some levels but not the PL. He can work on it and will need to before he becomes a regular for us.

Chilwell is a monster at pushing the team up the field. If he was a stocky, foreign player, half you lot would be all over it!

Love the potential of Thomas and his vision in the final third, but can't wait for Chilly to return.

I was having that chat yesterday with my father in law.  Chilwells main asset is pushing the team up the pitch, however, his end product isn't great and he often ends up checking back inside and passing backwards.

I do think Thomas is better positionally than Chilwell AND has a better end product.

BUT he doesn't travel with the ball anywhere near as well.

I have a feeling, long term, Thomas will be the better player in a team like ours. Right now, Chilwell is the better option for what we need.

That’s about spot on, for me.  Makes it difficult, as I think Thomas needs to get the attacking ‘swagger’ that Chillers has. But he won’t get it on our bench. People will say there are loads of games next year, but in reality we will pick Chillwell almost every time. Is a handful of games going to be enough to develop him? I’m not convinced.  But if BC is carrying an injury, it would be hugely risky letting LT go out on loan without a recall. Which probably limits who would want him if we insert a recall clause.

Totally agree with all of that, although I think across the many attributes we haven't covered, Chilwell comes out on top more often. Obviously half a decades experience will do that!

I hope we can hold on to them both. They'd be fantastic assets to have for the long term, and I hope we don't let Chilwell go easily.

The thing with chillwell is if you are winning he is a fantastic player to have in the team.

When we are  chasing a game he is far less effective.

His form is one of the very few positives we can take post lockdown.

Reckon its likely Chilwell will go now so Thomas will become a regular next season.

Could an option be to play Ricardo and Thomas as wingbacks/wingers with Justin and Chilwell behind them.

Lots of attacking intent with defensive skills too.

I agree but I'd switch chilly and thomas and push Ricardo and chilly up the wings

He will be better than Chillwell and he's decent despite all the negativity on here

Negativity on FT towards one of our younger players??  Really? Never seen that before🤥

In the 3 games I saw more dangerous crosses and passes from Luke Thomas than from Chilwell during the whole season. Unfortunately, he messed up against Tottenham. Imo he is very good and can get much better with more games, so Chilwell should be sold and the money should be invested in a winger Mahrez 2.0...

One of them definitely could be played in a defensive 3, Justin impressed me yesterday and still got forward himself.

Very impressive but Thomas has played all 3 games at wing back not fullback, very different roles.

Cmon now mate, we play so high up the pitch it really isn’t that different.

Also worth noting Thomas was up against 3 top half teams.

Imagine the joy he could get against teams we are more likely to dominate?

As I said it's very impressive. I'm not saying it's not. My point is just that the terms "wingback" and "fullback" are thrown around interchangeably but are different positions.

A wingback is a mix between a winger and a fullback, its in the name. Wingbacks get much more creative freedom going forward and have much less defensive responsibly. There's a reason players like Albrighton and Alonso are good wingback but shocking fullbacks.

As I said, it's still very impressive. His final ball is clearly class but I'm just pointing out comparing him to players who have actually played fullback all season is a bit daft. It's just as daft as comparing his stats to a winger.

Actually think he makes a decent CB in a 3
