Popular Post Hammo Posted 16 May 2021 Popular Post Posted 16 May 2021 Liverpool’s sickener of a win doesn’t change the fact that if we beat Chelsea again on Tuesday we will qualify for the Champions League. As Alf Ramsey once famously said (albeit in different circumstances): “we’ve beaten these once, now let’s go and beat them again”. We can only affect our own games. Finishing in the top four will probably be out of our hands if we lose at Stamford Bridge, where the presence of home fans will make our task more difficult, but come what may it will still be possible going into the final game v Spurs. Chelsea, don’t forget, will be away to a Villa side backed by their fans and will have half an eye on the Champions League final. If they fail to win that game and we beat Spurs (in front of our fans, including yours truly!) we go above them again. Yeah, it will be a massive disappointment if we miss out - especially if it is on goal difference to that horrible Liverpool team with their obnoxious manager - but we have won the FA Cup and are guaranteed European football for a second successive season - both for the first time in the club’s history - and are a club on the up who are the envy of almost every other in this country and beyond. Anyway. Let’s just beat Chelsea again, shall we, and clear this thing up once and for all. 8

You’re also ignoring that the BBC is funded on license fees and has a remit to represent the whole country. Sky is a corporation and can do what it pleases. If anything there is much more onus on the BBC to be impartial because of that. The one that is enough to warrant comment is the one that is rammed down the rest of football's throat week after week in much of the in-match commentary on Sky and BT. I've posted a few times in this thread about broadcasters mistakenly thinking that co-commentators with an affinity for one of the sides featured is a good idea when it is, generally, really quite annoying to neutrals. It annoys me when they put Gary Neville on to the co-commentary on Burnley v Man United, so it isn't just a Leicester City thing. Gary Lineker is not on co-commentary. Presenting is not the same thing as co-commentary. Yesterday was a weird and very unusual day, wasn't it? We'd need Gary Lineker whooping and cheering for Leicester City *during the match* every time we play, and then giving analysis through Leicester-tinted spectacles, and probably suggesting any decent player for any other team ought to sign for Leicester, for it to be anything like remotely comparable. 1
purpleronnie Posted 16 May 2021 Posted 16 May 2021 I stated before Liverpool played Utd that Liverpool will win their remaining 4 games. Which means we'll need 4 points from the last 2 games, a huge ask. Unless we just beat Chelsea.

Super_horns Posted 16 May 2021 Posted 16 May 2021 (edited) Why are Everton so poor at home but very good away ? Just down to the tactics and style of play maybe . Edited 16 May 2021 by Super_horns

Matter of interpretation, but I'd say yes. Frankly I was raging at Phillips when I saw that angle, because he made it too easy for Dean, and for VAR to uphold him. He could have shat on Alisson's shoes from that position. As someone who spent their whole childhood playing as a goalkeeper and someone with eyes, I know that he wouldn't have had anywhere near the time required to make that decision and get down. Unfortunately the officials never seem to have played a game of footie in their lives so make these mental decisions. 1
pazzerfox Posted 16 May 2021 Posted 16 May 2021 Unfortunately, it's written in the stars for Liverpool to finish in the top 4, just like it was written in the stars for us to win the FA cup. I'm a happy leicester fan whatever hjappens.
Tielemans63 Posted 16 May 2021 Posted 16 May 2021 Maybe I'm clutching at straws but I still think that Liverpool win papers over the cracks. They were poor today and they've got out of jail thanks to some outrageous luck. I'm not so sure they will beat both Palace and Burnley. Burnley getting tonked 0-4 by Leeds could work in our favour. 1

enmac Posted 16 May 2021 Posted 16 May 2021 Chelsea women losing 4-0 coming up to half time v Barcelona in wcl.
StanSP Posted 16 May 2021 Posted 16 May 2021 This is rancid from Everton. Especially given the fact they still have something to play for. 1

The beeb and even bt put them to shame last night. The game yesterday without skys incessant shit was so much better. Thankfully I'll be either in the pub or at the ground from now on (fingers crossed). **** sky. SKY News is just as bad, full of opinion and 12 year old know it all’s telling the viewer what to think. Half the time it’s just pure bullshit. Same with Sky Sports. To be honest, though, you struggle to get unbiased opinionated news or reporting on anything from anywhere. Strange times. 1
RonnieTodger Posted 16 May 2021 Posted 16 May 2021 (edited) Thank **** for yesterday. After the Liverpool game earlier and now Everton letting me down for £300, I’d be hating football. Edited 16 May 2021 by RonnieTodger
bovril Posted 16 May 2021 Posted 16 May 2021 That's probably the worst result for any PL team this season. 2

cambridgefox Posted 16 May 2021 Posted 16 May 2021 I’m sure Everton fans thought they were winning the PL earlier in the season. 3
