Timothy Castagne Signs!

Surely Ricardo and Timmy can just swap sides every now and then during a game?

If they are comfortable playing on both sides it could cause all sorts of problems for other team and mean we don’t need to worry about playing them in fixed left or right back positions.

Yep we could do that, or we could do things where you put Under on the left hand side so we have a left footed player and the left back cuts in, instead of the other way round. Or we could mix it up and do all of that at various stages in the game. If you compare the way we play to Liverpool and Man City, we play more like Man City than Liverpool - we go through the centre more often and look to get a slick passing game going, whereas Liverpool use their midfield as their solid base upfield and let their wide players do the attacking. This was of course before they signed Thiago which gives them a very scary new option.

Castagne and Ricardo can play football, that we can see. So in some ways it doesn't matter where they are on the pitch, they will always have an impact, something we've already seen with Ricardo.

Going to be a great headache for Brendan on who to play on the left. Ricky P cutting in with his shooting ability is an equally scary, exciting prospect.

The fact he's playing JJ on the left means maybe Castagne is 1st choice RB, otherwise surely it would make more sense for JJ to be on the right where he is more comfortable, and for Castagne to be on the left where he is more experienced than JJ. Hope that makes sense.

Interchanging fullbacks could be our thing though, with JJ equally as versatile.

Where's he said that? There was a little Northcroft interview in the Times today where he as good as says Rodgers told him he wanted someone who could play either side and he knows he'll be used on both.

Think he mentioned shortly before/after West Brom game that he left Atalanta because Gasperini kept changing the position he was being played in, and wanted some regularity and consistency.

Is there any other history of it happening?

My son was with lcfc academy for 4 years until he dislocated his shoulder during a game at middlesboro. They decided to release him and he played semi pro for 2 years after but his shoulder dislocated 5 times during this period. He had an operation on his shoulder but was advised to give up football as it would more than likely happen again and put him back to square one. He hasn't played since.

Just hope he can do it on the left. If he wasn’t first choice at Atalanta, I’d love to see what the bloke who is first choice is like.

If anything that tells you the level you need to be a champions league player and the level of player we need at the club if we want to be there.

Elite two way fullbacks are like gold dust … even the biggest clubs can’t find them.  How did we grab both Ricardo and Castagne @ 25M ?!

Said this before, plus with Barnes, Perez, albrighton an now ünder we can also switch wingers which gives us so many options either off the bench or during play we can pull teams who try the low block all over the place. We are looking like the real deal.

Hi. Sorry to hear that. But look up Steven Defour. His shoulder pops out every 2/3 games. Some people can play professional football with it.
