Gray to..........

Recommended Posts

Gray has had some good games for us.  I hope he does well in Germany.  If he returns to the Premier League, I hope he does well (but not against Leicester and he should make sure he is not part of a club that finishes higher than us).

It’s clearly Perez or Kelechi, they have already been in training

The  ‘Nostradamus’ Match Thread Squad were hammering Dan during the Brentford game.  He would be a good call?

The list, whilst not being endless, pretty much consists of everyone on the roster except Vardy and Youri. lol

False dawn after false dawn with him. Probably played less than a dozen legitimately good games for us, with the majority off the bench. Have a good cameo or two then get a start or two and do absolutely nothing. Just never seemed to be able to hold any form at all and was certainly given enough chances to take one of them. Bitterly disappointing.

Thank **** for that, he should have gone about 2 years ago. Nowhere near as good as he thought he was and the potential he showed 5 years ago is long gone. Another huge burden on our wages gone, we've done some trimming this season, just a couple more to go.

I'm not sure he would have been a huge burden on wages tbf - did he even sign a new contract while he was here? 5 year deal in 2016 sounds about right, and he was a rookie then (and still is tbh).

And anyone of us could rattle off a bunch of players on whom we’ve spent so much more on the transfer market, yet Dimi is Public Enemy #1.

It didn’t work out for him— that’s football. The club’s moving on, he’s moving on, we’re in a great position and looking to strengthen. It’s not that bad.

Yeah he signed a contract extension. Someone on here claimed he's on around 50k a week the other day, not sure how true that is though, he's gotta be on at least 25.

That’s simply not true.

At one point he spent a good proportion of his life on social media moaning about a lack of first team opportunities

No. You’ve chosen to read into someone sharing bible versus and taken it as having hidden meaning...

Thanks - certainly funds that could be better spent elsewhere but he's not the worst drain on resources.

Some interesting comments on that thread...

He’s probably made ₤11M or 12M here, on top of a fee of ₤3.5M.  10 goals and 9 assists in all comps … so well under ₤1M per goal contribution.  In current football economics, that’s probably not bad.

Especially if the Leverkusen deal is a paid loan/transfer and not just a pre-contract, we can all move on without feeling the club is too badly out of pocket.

All the potential in the world, never the desire to push on... Wonder if he'll look back on his time here and think "I wasted that opportunity" especially seeing Madders and Chilwell go onto bigger things... Gray has never kicked on.

Either way, hope it works out for him over in Germany, maybe this is the move needed for both parties.

Problem was he never fitted in the team/club. He wasn't a player that was screened through the club's normally rigorous filtering process that our recruitment is renowned for.

He was just one of Claudio's follies, mesmerized by stunning preseason goal but like many of his purchases: Inler, Benalouane, Musa, Slimani... None of them have that hard working, intense mentality we desire in our players.

It's telling that out of all Ranieri's signings that only Mendy is kept because to come back from his injuries requires a strong mind, and is a testament to him that he's an important member of the squad and capable deputy for Ndidi and a good partner with Youri.
