Jobyfox Posted 12 March 2021 Share Posted 12 March 2021 (edited) It’s just great to be going into a game when the only options behind the strikers aren’t defenders and CDMs. Evans is the rock the defence is built around and Praet and Perez give us options and more balance. I guess my only note of caution is that players worth always seems to inflate in our minds when they are absent. Praet and Perez are squad players for a reason and it’s not as pivotal as having the likes of Maddison and Barnes back. I’d just like to see a balanced side with players played in their best positions. One of the biggest decisions might be who Brendan picks between Ian and Vardy or does he stick with both of them? Personally I think it would be difficult to drop Nacho - and that means playing Vardy as well. I don’t like Ian on his own up top and Vardy’s form isn’t good enough at the moment for him to do the role. North Leeds Fox Posted 12 March 2021 Share Posted 12 March 2021 Same team as last week with evans in for amartey. Match them up with better players and if we are struggling, we have praet and perez to bring on. Would also hope we use fofana to run the ball forward in the same way JJ did when he played in the 3atb system.
Popular Post davieG Posted 12 March 2021 Popular Post Share Posted 12 March 2021 https://www.leicestermercury.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/leicester-city-press-rodgers-live-5149370 Leicester City were finally able to catch their breath this week. After 15 games in 50 days, there was no midweek fixture to prepare for, allowing the players to rest and recuperate ahead of this Sunday's game against Sheffield United. The complexion of the match against the Premier League's bottom side changed on Friday, with widespread reports that Chris Wilder was on the verge of parting company with the Blades. This lunchtime, Rodgers will give his thoughts on that, as well as providing the latest on the fitness of his squad at his weekly press conference. City are due to have two players available again in Jonny Evans and Ayoze Perez, and Rodgers will confirm if they are ready to start. For the best of the updates from the press conference, follow along below. 13:57JORDAN BLACKWELL What to expect from Sheff Utd? “They will never give up. They have been unfortunate. They have had a number of key players who have been out for them. If you don’t have the depth of squad, it’s difficult. They give everything, they fight, they run. It’s just going against them. We have always had very close games against them.” 13:57JORDAN BLACKWELL Tavares contract? “It’s up at the end of the season. The club have been in discussions with his representatives. He’s a very talented young player. He fits the profile and has good potential. There is a lot for him to do. I’m pretty sure that will get resolved. I’ll continue to coach him until the end of the season or beyond. We provide an environment for young players. It’s about three fundamental principles. Can we win titles? Can we play attacking football? And can we do it with players from our academy? I would hope they see it as a great place to be. We are looking to be competitive. Hopefully him and his family can see that.” 13:56JORDAN BLACKWELL Vardy? “Jamie Vardy is in a really good way. There’s been demands on him over these past few weeks. He looks great.” 13:56JORDAN BLACKWELL Flexibility from recruitment or coaching? “It’s one of the types of profiles I like. We look for certain characteristics, but we look for intelligence in players so they can cope with different systems. We’ll look for technique and a mental toughness. It’s having players who have the capacity to play a certain way." 13:56JORDAN BLACKWELL Evans, Soyuncu, Fofana play together? “It’s good to have the availability. I won’t be too disappointed bringing some players like Evans back. We’ll see. They are all available which is most important. We have been playing in a three but it sometimes swinging into a four. There’s flexibility.” 13:55JORDAN BLACKWELL Week off? “It’s been great. It’s our first one in eight weeks, to have that clean week. It’s important to get on the training field and work on aspects and improve the players. We have a real good time on the training field this week. We have been focus on specifics with players. We have one more final day to finalise tactics for the game on Sunday.” 13:55JORDAN BLACKWELL Bouncebackability? “We stick to our process. We haven’t dwelled and been too critical. We are candid on where we can be better, but we don’t dwell on it. We lost two games in a row to Slavia Prague and Arsenal, and people are looking at Leicester losing to Arsenal as a massive setback. It shows what the players have done over these past couple of seasons. It’s important you refocus and get back to winning.” 13:55JORDAN BLACKWELL Brighton win? “It was an outstanding win but the first half wasn’t outstanding at all. The second half was much better. That was understandable with the quality not available to us. But we still need to have intensity to our game and we brought that in the second half. Our record is very good late in the game, that shows the never-say-die attitude." 13:55JORDAN BLACKWELL Kolo Toure? “It’s a collective effort from everyone. I’ve got brilliant coaches here. Chris Davies has been working with me for a long time, he’s an outstanding coach, Adam Sadler too. Kolo is at the beginning of his career, he’s very charismatic but very serious. He understands what the modern player is thinking and he works very well with them. We have different personalities within our coaching staff.” 13:54JORDAN BLACKWELL Evans? “He’s been brilliant in my time here. He knows the level we want to take the team to. He has been struggling through an injury he has had for a number of weeks. He’s worked well with the medical team and there have been no effects." 13:54JORDAN BLACKWELL VAR? “We had an incident last week against Brighton that could have cost us. The defender caught Vards. With the speed of it, it would be difficult for the referee to call the penalty, but when it’s slowed down for VAR you can see it was a penalty. For it not to be given, it was frustrating. The incident with Phil Foden, if he had gone down, he would have a penalty. It will always be about interpretation. VAR has been great, but it’s the application of the rules that will always be up for debate.” 13:54JORDAN BLACKWELL Wilder? “Nothing really until it’s confirmed, that’s not a great deal to say on it. Chris has done a great job there. It’s been a tough season for them and they have lost a lot of key players. They have gone close in lots of games. We will prepare for a tough game. You have to be ready for a tough game against them.” 13:54JORDAN BLACKWELL Perez? “He’s got a good fitness level because he’s been able to continue with that side of things. I’ll speak to him later to get a feel for where he’s at." 13:54JORDAN BLACKWELL Maddison frustration? "He’s a young player who loves the game, he loves talking about the game, improving, and there is an element of frustration when you are watching everyone training outside. He’s picked up after the first few days. We need to see how it responds to the work he’s doing." 13:54JORDAN BLACKWELL Maddison? "Seeing where he is after the international break. Will be about how he feels. He’s as frustrated as us all. Hopefully he will play a real part for us in the closing games." 13:53JORDAN BLACKWELL Injuries? "James is still out, Jonny is back, Dennis Praet is back and should be available and too Ayoze Perez, will check on those before the game but it’s great to have those back." 13:31JORDAN BLACKWELL Rodgers has arrived. Updates will start filtering through at around 13:50. 13:07JORDAN BLACKWELL Good afternoon! Hello there and thanks for joining us on our press conference live-blog. Brendan Rodgers is due to sit down at 1.30pm. 3

Corky Posted 12 March 2021 Share Posted 12 March 2021 Aside from all their issues, I'm glad we've got players returning. Even if only for a sub role or for show, to see a bench with Praet, Evans and Perez on it immediately looks stronger which is great after all the problems we've had.
