Sell. Awful under the ball, gets beaten far too easily and shit in possession. Can’t wait for Ricardo’s return

He was electric in his first season, he's been unlucky we've mostly been rubbish since he arrived

Selling Castagne with only Justin and Ricardo as backup would be like selling your carjack and using a couple of wet twigs instead. Sure it might work for a while but you're going to regret it.

Whether you like him or not, if he won’t sign an extension then we have to sell him

I have a suspicion that he’d like to go back to Italy so prob prepare for him to leave and we look for another full back unless Ricky sees out the season in decent form and without any further injury

Would probably have to get another right back if Castagne left

RB: Ricardo and new player

LB: JJ and Kristiansen

RB: JJ & Ricardo ( will he be same player)

LB: Kristiansen & Thomas back up

You could say the same for JJ which is why it would probably be quite risky to have both of them as the right back options

JJ has been at his best for us at left back as well, and it would also allow Thomas to go out on loan which he does seem to need now

I reckon we'll cash in on him in the summer, 27/28 years old he'll lose his resale value if we don't.

He was so good when he first arrived, but like many others has regressed to average.

If he wants out get rid of him and Thomas and bring in someone else who can play on both flanks.

Ideally i'd look to sell, especially if our recruitment model has now gone back to how it was and we trust ourselves to bring in quality around the £10-£12m mark.

I agree with the view of some on here that he has never been as good for us as advertised. The only nagging doubt is that his versatility, and ability to be bang average on both flanks is actually useful given our squad composition in the full back areas have either fitness concerns (Ricardo, Justin) or questions over their quality (Thomas), and whether him going means you actually need to replace with 2 players.

I'm not in any great hurry to see him leave but nor would I be especially upset if he were to do so. He reminds me a bit of Praet in that he's ok in a couple of positions and is a 6/10 at most things without really excelling at any of them. Come the summer he'll have two years on his contract so I'm inclined to say if we get a decent offer we should probably accept but then we either add another position to our already lengthy to-do list or we put our faith in one or both of Justin and Ricardo to stay fit and firing for a whole season.

Fixed it for you. Just because he wants to play for england doesnt mean we should keep him out of position imo

Majority of his career has been as a left sided player

I also think it would be risky having 2 players at right back who have both had multiple long term injuries and could be nowhere near the level they used to be

it’s true but he’s also 100 times better on the right. He looks so awkward when he hits the byeline on his weak foot.  for the occasional cut in goal, it’s not worth it imo

Sell, he’s average.

Brighton are looking to sell Lamptey, I’d be all over that.

Another very injury prone player. Fabulous on his day, no doubt about it, but this makes for grim reading:

I’d be sad to see Timmy go, gives everything, don’t think he’s ever had the advantage of playing with a real winger on the right, he’s had to play as a wing back at times which I don't think he is which has showed him up, if he isn’t signing though move him on as I’d think Ricardo or Justin will replace him.

He's a decent player but if you can get a good fee, given he's not got tonnes left on his contract then it may be wise to cash in. We need to be looking for Kristiansen like targets for any position so that we've got a bit of strength in our position.

You’ll never Jack a car up with twigs, wet or dry. #facts

Sell, he's not been anywhere near as good as some of you make out. He's been decent but nothing special and I think he wants to go.

...it is amazing how players come here and are revered and in no time, we look to get them unceremoniously slung out the door and left in a heap!!!

Players have so regressed at this club, it has become the best thing that could happen to them to get out of here. We all want the best for our club, and the players that make up our team we want to do well. I would rather see players streaming out the door for the sake of their careers than spend a second too long in an environment that only appears to chip away and undermine their talents and well-being.

Castagne has been a great servant to this club, he came here to take up a position and stay there, but he looks to be leaving with most people not knowing where his best position is, because we had no idea what we needed to do, as we switched him all over the place.

I hope he goes, gets in a team that allows him to play, in the position that he wants and start enjoying the game again.

We have managed to suck the life out of too many players, they do not deserve this.
