Trying to find positives and negatives in this situation, my gut feeling is that results wise we will be very competitive in L1.

Positives:
- He will likely try to sign younger players with sell on potential
- Being in L1 allows us a bit more breathing room to cast a wider net on players who don't need to be "champ ready"
- The sort of players he will try to sign will be able to press, but will also be technically capable, so when RM leaves, he won't be leaving us a load of one-dimension players that the likes of Rowett might.
- RM does appear to have a good record building rapport with players (Rangers aside), and I saw somewhere when Still was sacked, Players at Southampton wanted Martin back? Speaks volumes if true
- If he fails we can at least move on from being linked every 2 weeks
- His system does score goals which we've lacked for 2 years.
- RM will be considered one of the best managers if not the best in the division, couple that with our clear facilities advantage, I could see RM getting us some very good loans from the likes of Man City, Enzo will clearly see us as a good pathway to send a player on loan who will be learning a style somewhat similar to his own.
- Like Enzo, when it does work and we pick the pace up and play fast flowing football, it really is "the beautiful game"

Negatives:
- RM's style of sideways ball is Enzo on steroids, will bore me to sleep
- His football seems to produce quite a few hammerings
- He comes across as stubborn and refuses to change the system even when losing or on a bad run
- His style exacerbates the already obvious situation that teams will form a low block against us, slow sideways football gives opponents an incentive to drop deep and not press, Enzo has this same issue, L1 will be worse.
- During his Lineker interview, he stated that he was more determined than ever to continue with his style, but he did give the impression he would maybe change a few things

Quite honestly who cares anymore !
Im sick to death of this football club and the negative vibe King Power ooze ! This club is adrift in each and every way

The new manager could be Pep and I wouldn’t even raise a lip because the club wreaks of Apathy which has been created by an owner who couldn’t give a toss

This club was lost years ago, maybe one day it will be found.

It would, and the ultimate gfy to those who despise KP.

Of course I want any manager to do well. I just don't see how this is a long term appointment. Should have been 1 year with 1 year guaranteed if promoted. Rudkin is too stupid for that and instead opted for a 1 year contract with 2 years added on for having a fit Mrs (one for each boob)

Combing this thread in a years time would be hilarious

its probably more asking fans not to go mental at the first miss placed pass or missed chance, basically asking for the atmospherte not to be toxicfrom the off as it was at the end of the last season

Lol..we could appoint Wise, and he could wear a sandwich board saying "I ❤️ forest" during a 0-10 cup tie loss against them and our timid, blind happy clappers would still say "gotta give the man time".

Anyone expecting Martin to get the reception he deserves is gonna be disappointed.

My only hope is that league 1 is so shit Martin has enough about him (assuming we get recruitment right.....lol>_<) to get us promoted and then totally be found out again in the championship.

Probably 3 years because even a proven sh!t manager wouldn't consider anything less in terms of compensation when he's taken us to the brink of div 2 and he's inevitably sacked!

I don't think it will be but expectation will be high. I don't see why manager getting a lot of leeway managing the club at this level.

I do wonder if having the first couple of matches (League Cup and League) away might help. Get a couple of results early then the fans might settle down for home matches.

Gave me the willies the first time I ever heard him talk about his footballing philosophy and almost every interview i've heard from him since has left me a mix of anger and astonishment. It's his delusion and borderline superiority and arrogance that I just cannot turn a blind eye too. Go and listen to his post match comments in the home and away games we absolutely destroyed his Southampton side under Enzo if you're in danger of getting all misty eyed. It was staggering.

The scary thing is, i've felt that from him when i've had absolutely no skin in the game as he's been at other clubs and I should have found it funny if anything like I do when i've heard the likes of Nathan Jones and Liam Rosenior but I just knew he'd end up here. I've never been sure of anything in my life.

I wish him no ill, I really hope i'm wrong about him and it's been a case of mistaken identity but people can fcuk off trying to patronise me that we can't form these opinions on someone. It's a basic human trait that might be wrong, might be right. Does he deserve a chance? Not for me he doesn't but what choice have we got now?

What I cannot get my head around is his footballing philosophy has had quite appalling success and yet his belief remains undeterred. He wasn't successful at Southampton, it was nothing more than par for the course and was then an abomination in the Prem. He did OK at Swansea but MK Dons his team instantly improved when he left and Rangers goes down as one of the worst managerial stints in the modern era.

What body of work there can give grounds to him being considered a dynamic and successful manager or that his foorballing IQ is unequivocally the way to go. He'll never land a job with the environment or resources in order to support such ideology so it's pointless. His best solution is to use the experience he has in the game to get the best out of the opportunities he does still land and see if that fairs better.

He recruits pretty well, gives young players a chance and can build a bit of a unity if players buy in to his authority so harness that with tactics that are not reckless and ill suited.

My phone will go out the window an'all when Gary Lineker lauds this a major coup.

A dark day for this football club, which is actually an achievement in itself given the bar they've set in recent years.

I'll be even further on the periphery now to save my own sanity. All the best for those who can still support it.

Yep I found myself watching Rangers matches for the first time ever just to laugh at how inept they were and listen to his delusional comments at full time.

This feels like some perverse karma come to punish me.

Something I would mention, me more than most doesn't want to see the football I expect RM will bring, but I cannot understand why fans would give Martin anything other than support when he arrives.
King Power made this appointment, RM will see us as a project and he will back himself to get the club up and will want a good relationship with fans.

If he turns up, stinks the place out and refuses to change, then sure, get on his back. But in the first 8 games or so he should get the full backing of the fans, constructive criticism is fine.
Making a manager feel unwelcome before we've kicked a ball because of the actions of the board doesn't feel productive. Right now it's fans vs board, It's better to be fans + manager vs board than the other way around.

I appreciate the style, I just hate to watch 95% of managers brand of this style with a couple of exceptions like Pep, Alonso and Motta, who provide a more entertaining version of it. I said earlier on if he's appointed I might be done with the club, that's probably unlikely as I love this club, I might just be a bit distant if we stink the place out early on. But he will get my backing and support, we need him to help us fight against the ownership.

Honestly, an embarrassment of an appointment. One of the few bullets we (accidently) dodge, we jump back into the firing line for. There is clearly no quality assurance going on at any level of this football club. For my own sanity, I give up with us at this point.

Doesn’t matter who the manager is when we don’t have a capable recruitment team. Can they assemble a squad more dislike-able than last season? They’ll try their best.

The pressure's on him to deliver. Got to leave his ego at the door and get us on side as soon as possible. Hopefully he has changed and has the ability to do it.

Obviously not the appointment a large proportion of the fan base wanted.

The only positive ive got is its last chance for him, regardless of how we see the club, its still Leicester in League one, gets to build his own squad and if he fails I cant see him getting near another job, certainly in the UK.

It will be interesting if this plays a role in his approach or will he just double down even further and hope that just the fact its leicester in league one will be enough to paper over the cracks.

He's landed on his feet, getting this job.

Where else would he get the chance to immediately bring in 6-7 of his own style of player,

and then have the fairly easy job of getting the team out of the third division?

From a Rangers Fan -

You can look forward to a suicidal high line, a system too complicated for the level of players you have.

Conceding record amounts of chances and goals against you.

Aimless attacks all squashed into the middle of the park, but the idiot's system inverts every position.

90% of your play is between the goalie and the centre half, who Veg Lasso will expect to morph into prime Barasi for the “system” to work.

And once you get beaten, he will gaslight everybody and blame players' “anxiety” and “self-preservation mode”

He will eventually blame the fans if you complain too much, also.

He's a con artist.

Be afraid.

It was your first taste of it, it’ll be our 4th or 5th go at it, and only one got us promoted, the others said they were doing it but only half arsed, other than our centre halves having 60% of our 70% possession bit.

Don’t worry, we know exactly what’s coming and even with promotion it won’t get us off our seats.
