Carry On Cup QF - Man City at Home

I'm actually feeling very confident about our chances in this game. Man City face Spurs on the weekend before the tie and then all Premier League clubs have 4 fixtures over the Xmas and New Year period. I can see Pep resting most of his key players for those reasons and that has to give us a good opportunity to progress.

The way these draws are going, we might aswell forget them and just go with a ranked tournament format (like the Wimbledon tennis tournament) based on previous league finish (with promotion/relegation context) - if they really want the best possible odds of getting higher ranked teams to the finals, that's the way to do it ;)  (Should I stop before I give them any more ideas? :P )

Next draw to be done on the moon with movie stars Charlie Sheen, Michaelangelo from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles fame and comedian Larry David hosting the event

Though the broadcast won't be live and as the ESA, NASA, SpaceX & Russians won't fund a 'charity run', a large delay could be expected after this current round has concluded.

Why do so many people think this is a fix? Swear some people claim everything that goes against us these days is a fix or a conspiracy. 'kinell.

don’t think many would be crying about it if we’d watched it live on bbc and thems the way the balls came out.

something very odd clearly happened for 90 minutes of “technical issues” to then not even do it live anyway. and then no explanation at all about what’s happened?

obviously the chances of us getting a big team was odds on but still, seems dirty.

I hope we win this. I know it's not perceived as the best of competitions, but it's a cup we have history in and a backdoor to Europe.

No matter how this played out, we were going to have to beat the best. QFs are tough sledding - as they ought to be.

Does it really matter if the draw was rigged or not ?

If you want to win the trophy you've got to beat any team your drawn against.

Be great if we can beat the Mancs and upset the sponsors as well..... which I think we can.

Agreed. We can't complain about  luck - home against Leeds and now at home again. We have to see it as a fantastic opportunity, and I see no reason to be daunted at the prospect of Man C at the KP.

Also, not sure of the rules for this cup, but if one of the top 4 teams wins it (which seems likely) but qualify for the Champs League on the basis of their final league position,  would we qualify for Europe if we were the losing finalist?

Well you can have easier runs to a cup final....

The more of the top teams you have to best the less likely you are to win it. We'll probably have to beat 3 of the top teams to win the trophy now but the draw could have put us in a position where we would only need to beat one - obviously it didn't.

well this was posted on Man Citys os at 3.20.

Ehhh I'd imagine they had a draft post in place ready to edit for when the draw was done. So the draft was created at 3:20 with nothing more than the photo and basic content, so when fully published it shows that as the original time it was posted if that makes sense and not when it was last edited.

Looking on their site now it has changed so someone probably realised.

The draw itself however... very suspicious

Think that only applies to the FA cup

So the dates of the games should be (based on the fact Bournemouth and Man Utd play the Sunday before and Arsenal the Friday after).

Tuesday 19th December

Arsenal vs West Ham (guaranteed as Arsenal play Liverpool Friday 22nd December)

Leicester vs Man City - could be on Wednesday but they will probably want two games each night - SKY game likely

Wednesday 20th December

Chelsea vs Bournemouth

Bristol City vs Man Utd - SKY game likely

We play Palace at home on the Saturday before at 12.30 - they play Spurs in the evening kick-off.

Sky said that Palace is subject to change depending on EFL Cup participation.

They should never let the sponsors do the draw. I don't know why they don't do these draws lottery-ball style, with them flying around/spinning around and being selected at random by a machine.

Carabao just want their ratings to go up when it's inevitably Chelsea, Arsenal, Man U and Man City all possibly against each other.

i very much doubt it is a fix, far too risky! and if it was they would have put Man CIty at home. If they wanted the big 4 in the semi's they wouldnt risk us playing at home. Man Utd going to Bristol isnt easy either they are very good at home.

You don’t want to make it too obvious ...
