Clever Fox Posted 9 November 2019 Share Posted 9 November 2019 I was expecting him at half time in place of Harvey not because Harvey was doing badly. I just felt we needed Damari's pace and energy which is exactly what he brought. His understanding of the game is now so much better, it's like a light went on in his head. He's becoming such an important player for us and long may it continue.

majaco Posted 9 November 2019 Share Posted 9 November 2019 Gary's decision making is I proving rapidly. Someone seems to be successfully coaching him football intelligence. He has talent. I have been defensive of him on this forum several times. He could possibly become a massive player. In today's game, his long range shots were crisp giving the massed ranks of the Arsenal defence a new problem. His ball retention seemed to be excellent. At times , he was threatening from the wing. Well done to him.

Popular Post StriderHiryu Posted 9 November 2019 Popular Post Share Posted 9 November 2019 Totally agree with everything posted above. Second game in a row he's come on and looked electric and changed the game. If you asked me what has changed, it's the way he's been coached. I can see that he's now running routines from a systemic form of football, meaning that rather than having to over think about things, he only needs to remember what he has practiced through repetition many times over. There's nothing wrong with this approach either, football is a team game and players are required to perform specific roles. Of recent I feel like Gray understands his role and has simplified what he's trying to do; play the give and go at certain points in our pattern of play and know when to pass it, so he looks for that option at the right time. He clearly has natural talent and has been genetically blessed with an athlete's physique. Can he do it from the start? Does it even matter!? I'm not sure. But this is probably the first time since Puel's first ever game (a 2-0 win over Everton) where I've seen Gray play and though "whoa, this guy has something." Like many I thought he needed putting in the bin, but once again the coaching team are making teams in the league placed 5th and below look like amateurs.
pazzerfox Posted 9 November 2019 Share Posted 9 November 2019 (edited) He's getting his head up, his final decision is improving, there is method to his play now. Excited to see how much further he can improve because he is starting to create chances now. Deserves a start soon! Julian Joachim Jr Shabadoo Posted 9 November 2019 Share Posted 9 November 2019 Fair play to Gray, he's coming on leaps and bounds at the moment and is great for bringing on with 20 minutes left to change attacking options. MUCH better decision making than previous seasons
sm1 Posted 9 November 2019 Share Posted 9 November 2019 He's looked far better the last few games but I want him to have a impact from the start, before I think he's turned the corner. There's definitely a place up for grabs on the RW.

I'd totally given up on him so his form is a pleasant surprise. Today what was most impressive was his decision making in the final third - always took the right option. IF (and its a big if) he can keep this up he has a future here What did Rodgers do to him that the other managers could not do the past few years I wonder? His decision making has significantly improved last few games. Or maybe he is just more direct. Edited 10 November 2019 by Tom12345

He had two which were hardly more powerful than passes skid straight into Leno's hands, they were the only thing I think he didn't do well yesterday. There is always a certain speculation to long range shots. In my opinion, they were decent efforts. It widened our range of pressure.
Crazy Kop Corner Posted 10 November 2019 Share Posted 10 November 2019 (edited) You have to put it down to great man management. Let him know exactly where he stands, what he needs to do to be part of the 1st teams plans and then clearly do a lot of work with him to get there. He needs to play a good 90 minutes because when he's started he's not performed e.g Man U away when he was awful Edited 10 November 2019 by Crazy Kop Corner

Max Power Posted 10 November 2019 Share Posted 10 November 2019 For all Rodgers good work so far, if he turns Gray into a consistent Premier League winger he truly is the messiah. He’s looked super sharp last few games and his decision making looks sensible.
lcfc sheff Posted 10 November 2019 Share Posted 10 November 2019 Think he’s playing well atm but only off the bench as others have said. he’s got all the talent in the world but his decision making is atrocious. Still yesterday he’s taking shots that aren’t really on.

ithuriel Posted 10 November 2019 Share Posted 10 November 2019 Last season I was always underwhelmed when he came on but yesterday I said to my mate, things I'd change after the break would be Gray for Perez and he did not disappoint, seems better as an impact sub at present and helped pen them back when they were trying to be more attacking.
