Man City Post match thread

So frustrating. If we're going into the Champions League we have to get more out ourselves on the big occasions against the big boys.

That said, better team won. We were leggy from 60mins and they pulled us apart, Mahrez switching to a freer role and bringing Gabby Jesus on was ominous. They also probably should've scored twice in the first half.

Fuchs probably our MotM; Praet, Ricardo, Soyuncu and Evans all had decent performances. Vardy looks rusty, Tielemans seems to have one boot covered in inverted spoons because the ball just bobbles off him half the time and he left a huge space for Mahrez to cruise into for their goal. Chilwell frustrating again, a great engine in the lad but he uses it to run up and down the wing without it amounting to anything, gets to a point in most games where you see he has the space to run into but you have no faith in him playing the right ball in or even making it past his man without tripping over his own feet, the ball or both.

If their penalty was justified it completely contradicts the ruling on our shout at Villa in the League Cup semi which was hit further away from Marvelous and hit with less power. De Brunye blocking a freekick with his hand too, you could say it's instinctive but he's blocked the ball with his hand . . . in the box . . . in an unnatural position . . . from ten yards away; if he didn't block it with his arm it's flying towards goal so he's clearly gained an advantage.

Not many scalps this season then it seems. Biggest big Club triumphs beating Arsenal & Tottenham at the King Power, both were in bad form and coming to the end of manager tenures. Hopefully just the lack of experience in the squad with alot of our team still being early 20s and they'll figure it out in the near future.

Tough one to assess. First half we more than matched them and, but for a poor/unlucky finish from Vardy and a blatant penalty not given, we could/should have been two up at halftime. Second half our game plan went out of the window, in large part because we lost Nacho. Barnes is not a like-for-like replacement and we were completely outplayed as a result. Could Rodgers have changed things? Perhaps, perhaps not. For me, I think it's less a case of a lack of tactical nous on his part, more an indication that we have a threadbare squad that will need substantial reinforcement if we do make the CL next season.

Unlucky tonight. Tielemans, Vardy and Maddison poor but thought our defence played well, impressed with Praet too. Encouraging performance and we probably deserved a point. Shame Iheanacho had to go off as he looked our brightest spark.

Refereeing/VAR was farcical tonight. Lack of consistency on those handballs is ridiculous, and that applies to the one we didn't get at Villa too. If they can't even be consistent on the decisions across two halves of football what chance do we have? The way the Man City players crowded the ref was hideous too.

Also, end up saying it every time we play them but what a bunch of fu cking entitled weirdos Man City fans are. Honestly that Ranieri chant they insist on rolling out every time we play them baffles me, they do know they did the exact same thing to Mancini right? Hope their ban gets upheld, Guardiola and their best players leave and they fu ck off back into the mediocrity from whence they came. Won't happen though.

BR gets 5m a year to make a decision such as bringing on f**king Matty James when we're chasing the game.. it's just beyond comprehension...

Honestly, it's right up there with the most confusing substitution ever!!

Well, it's not as if we had many other attacking options left, and with Ndidi and Choudhury out, we're currently short on midfielders, too.

We HAVE to start winning games. We’re in this inconsistent rut at the moment we need to get out of because the gap will start to decrease and our arses will start to twitch.

Think the twitching already started weeks ago.

first half of the season we played without fear but ultimately overachieved a bit, helped by everyone else being inconsistent.

for weeks we have been playing more cautiously, playing with fear and with the sense that we have something to lose. Only thing that’s kept us 3rd is everyone else being bad.

Worried .

We need to find some form from somewhere. Big players not performing atm . Let down by VAR again.... !

Onto Norwich we need a break from somewhere..

If you include the Cup games v Everton (drew the game before winning on pens) and Villa we've now won 3 of our last 15 games against PL teams, with 2 of our wins coming against a dreadful West Ham team. Very worrying.

I agree, it is going to be very tight. I can see it going down to the last game.

They bring on Jesus.

We bring on Matty James....

We huff and puff but we are lacking that quality that Mahrez showed today.

Too many of our players were at 5/6 where we need them to be 7/8's at the least.

James was ready to come on at 0-0 just before they scored, Rodgers should have reassessed the situation and brought him on at the end if needs be.

We NEVER get a fair game against these bastards.

I've had them since we've been back in the PL. Biggest cheats going. Diving, constantly in the refs face, cynical fouls whenever we're away. Wish they'd fvck off.

Better but not great, having seen some of the decisions not given in our favour i my a little hacked off.

You can’t afford to miss chances and then switch off for even 30 seconds against teams like this.

We got in a few good positions in the second half but the final balls were either rushed or just poor.
