More than good enough to remain here as a rotation option, if he is happy being that.

Agreed. Not good enough to start regularly but definitely one of those to come in and do a job. Like Albrighton has done recently. Amartey has come in in various games today and just been reliable.

Really solid. Glad Rodgers has revitalised him. If we were to try and replace him with a player as versatile it just wouldn’t be worth the cost. He’s at a peak age too whereas most of our squad aren’t, he turned 26 last week.

Next season I’d be happy with Evans, Soyuncu, Fofana, Amartey, Benkovic, Knight & Justin as CB options.

Thought Amartey's performance was one of the biggest positives to come from today. He slotted in well and looked good, even when we were under the cosh a little bit as a team. A couple of really nice pieces of defending when one vs one too, and was part of a defence that, realistically, restricted the Palace front line to very little. His return to fitness, and the fact he's deputised well on several occasions this season is very encouraging, especially if we need to go to a back 3 at any point again.

Makes it even more bizarre that he’s never played as a centre half before this season.

Just a bit as it’s definitely his best position

Really steady today, pretty incredible how he's up to speed after so long out.

And such a grim injury initially. Massive credit to the lad.

I believe he plays CB for his country - but the point is valid

I think he was voted as one of the best CB in the Africa Cup of Nations

He suffered that awful injury on the day that Vichai died so of course it barely got a mention.

It must have been a long, hard and particularly lonely return to fitness for him. And then to get that hamstring injury early on this season too - when he was playing well - must have deflated him even more.

It’s really heartwarming to see him back in a Leicester shirt and playing so well.

Happy New Year, Big Dan, you deserve it.

Notice Zaha was giving it the big one at JJ but soon pipped down when Big Dan got involved

Yeah I noticed that as well, Dan was really good today I thought he was excellent against Man City as well

Just don't play him at right back. We now have a very decent 4 centre backs.

Sadly, I don't think we'll see big Wes play for us again.

It'd be nice to have a testimonial for him in the future , with Andy King coming back to play of course

What makes this crazier is that at Copenhagen where we signed him from... he played centre back, as he also did for his national team. In this position he can use his best traits - his physicality to do a good job.

I have to say he was an easy 7/10 today, maybe even slightly better and the most impressive thing was that he didn't panic when given the ball under pressure, as well as finding some good passes. He didn't go for any hollywood long balls, which to be fair Johny Evans did brilliantly today, but his defending against Zaha in the first half was first class. 4 CB options of Evans, Soyuncu, Fofana and Amartey, with potentially JJ to plays a 3rd CB in a back 3 seems very decent, though it wouldn't surprise me if we go and sign another young player to replace Wes, with that lad from Braga (Camaro?) probably the most likely.
