CITY V Burnley POST MATCH 4-2

Fantastic 2 out of 2 top of the league and players coming in, one thing did find odd though was there was a minimum of 3 minutes extra time yet Mason blew up on 92.50 secs

Absolutely delighted with that. Burnley are limited but they  can be tricky to beat. We played very well.

The most shocking aspect of the game is Barnes’s voice, I’ve never heard him speak..... his voice does not match his face

Positives: Mendy very tidy, Barnes unplayable, Praet excellent, Castagne looks fantastic, JJ excellent going forward, Tielemans is truly back on it. Our goals are coming from all over the pitch. 

 

Negatives: Some poor defensive organisation (JJ left to handle Wood, for example), Vardy anonymous and looks a bit off the pace

Positives:

The belgian mob were different class

Barnes was different gravy as I've banged on about since I joined this forum

Great performance in terms of going forward

Great start to the season on the whole, picking up points against these sides was a struggle so far in 2020 so hopefully the tide has turned

 

Negatives:

Gave too much away at the back and a better side would have punished those mistakes

Justin was poor individually for both goals lost. Question marks remain over his defensive capabilities.

A centre back is sorely needed, one more injury there and things look ropey. Added to that the lack of one is making you do without your best midfielder at the moment also.

Great win after the disappointment of going a goal down early on, showed great resilience to get back into the game and power home to victory.

 

Worrying moments in defence though and Justin will learn a lot from today's game, he had a tough time at the back but scored a decent goal.

 

Castagne looks the real deal, his quality of balls  into the box is excellent compared to Chilwell's hit and miss efforts.

 

Praet had one of his best games for us today and scored a superb goal, Barnes looked terrifying when running at their defence and the ball from Tielemans for the second was sublime.

 

I had my doubts about this season after the way we bottled Champions League, we look good going forwards, 7 goals in 2 games and with players coming back from injury and new signings to come in, I think we can be quite pleased with the start to the season and excited about the rest of the season.

6 points from 2 games was all we could hope for. Excellent start going into the league cup.

 

We know where our weaknesses are, just need Evans and Perreira to come back and hope that Ünder can provide that extra edge. All of a sudden looking forward to that Man City game!

Maybe I don’t know the rules anymore but why was wood allowed to push JJ with 2 hands for the first goal? The commentators didn’t even mention it? Just calling that good strength. 

 

Maybe I’m being soft, but it genuinely knocked Justin off balance and I was quite sure it was getting overturned

very hard done by to not be in that first 11, Praet especially. With that 11 and the following players for the bench......

 

Perez, Justin, Mendy, Praet, Iheanacho, we look very strong. Another CB and our squad looks great.
