Marc Albrighton

Recommended Posts

If we’re not selling one big player but using money from FBS and wage reductions then it seems reasonable we’d try to sell a few players. I’ll be devastated if he goes rather than retiring here.

Why not? Hes absolutely perfect for Burnley.

He's perfect for a lot of clubs, but he's an important part of ours both on and off the pitch.  Unless we get bombshell news that Marc's wanted to play for Burnley all his life this is never going to happen.

Total rubbish mate 👍

Why because you like living in the past ? Face it he’s nowhere near good enough for where we wanna be. If it was up to people like you we’d still have nugent and king on the bench. Let it go times are changing. We aren’t the underdogs anymore.

The most Sean ‘hard brexit’ Dyche signing ever 😂. I know theres no way to prove it but theres surely got to be racism running through the management/player recruitment side at that club. It cant just be a coincidence that 99 percent of players Burnley sign since Dyche has been there happen to be white (usually British) in comparison with literally every other club in the league?

He keeps reminding managers, and fans, that he’s better than we think he is.

Defensively he remains a monster, the Ndidi of wingers -- world-class in both volume and success rate of ball pressures.  And that Shot Creating Actions stat is an eye-catcher.

Of course he also leads the known universe in Crosses To No One.

But he’s too useful, and we’re too short of wingers, to let him go.  Especially for what Mr No-Pound-Notes would pay to buy out just one year of his contract.

Those are his stats vs fullbacks. These are his stats vs wingers...

People are acting like Albrighton is an assist machine lol we all know his stats, and without checking I'm sure there are multiple full backs who have better numbers than him. If he moves, he moves. It's Burnley anyway, we're not get much for him. He's had a good 7 years here, the first 3 being really good.

I don't think you've taken enough account of the value to be got from experienced players who are loyal, professional and respected, and who act as a role model for the younger and more self-interested squad members. There are lots of areas apart from match-play where their influence on the togetherness of the squad is important - club and squad social events, dressing room, training pitch and when on the bench and the pitch.

The presence of players like Morgan and Fuchs has been important in those respects.  Their leaving means there are fewer players to perform that role and retaining Albrighton helps to give us breathing space while some of the newer players may be nurtured into the club ethos and may eventually perform the same purpose.

It may appear to be a more tenuous consideration than simply performance on the pitch, but it would be prudent not to under-estimate how crucial was the togetherness of the club and squad in our 2015-16 achievement.

If he goes then we must think Sowah is the best thing since sliced bread, or in this case, Mahrez.

Ghezzal still has 1 year left on his contract. :)

Edit: With that being said, I doubt and can't see Albrighton leaving...

Why are we even talking about this?  There's no chance.

Exactly.

Marc made over 40 appearances last season, and over 20 starts. He played in the FA Cup Final! He's an invaluable member of the squad and should not be sold. Players like Sharkey mean we can be competitive across many competitions!
