Aston Villa post match thread 2-1

We've been very unfortunate with this match: Their keeper had a blinder, the first goal is saved by Kasper 9 times out of 10, we should've had a pen for handball and you could argue they shouldn't have had that free kick leading up to the winner.  Fair play to Villa though, to use a couple of cliches they kept fighting and made the most of the chances that came their way. 

 

The manner of that defeat is a bitter pill but there are hopefully some valuable lessons for a few of our players to take from this, after all a lot of our current squad have never really experienced any true adversity in Leicester colours: They haven't been through Deeney Day or spent months staring down the barrel of immediate relegation from the Premier League to toughen them up, but they'll be feeling a lot of pain right now after being dumped out of a semi final that they could and should have won in the last minute of injury time.  And if they needed that experience then.I'd rather it be in the League Cup than any other competition to be honest.

 

I'm still mad though, genuinely thought we could win it this year.

We were the better team, I hope the lads aren't too downbeat, got a massive game Saturday and we still have the FA cup to go for.

 

Also Man City are going to demolish that Villa team.

Stevie Wonder and Ray Charles could see we deserved the win. 22 shots, just 6 on target, 3 or 4 Worldies from their GK and it was similar at our. Tactically we were spot on but we didnt take our chances. This result has fudge all to do with Rodgers in big games.

The most annoying part is allowing a poor team to shithouse their way through not one, but TWO legs of football. So disappointing and frustrating to not beat that bunch of donkeys over 180 mins.

 

Only got ourselves to blame for not finding a way to win. Burnley also did the same to us a couple of weeks ago.

 

Too many errors at the back from what little threats they had, not enough quality in the final third.

Still on course for that sweet top 4 and have a pretty favourable draw to get ourselves into another quarter in the FA Cup.

Just wished we backed ourselves more in these bigger ties. We're fantastic and we're only going to get better but we need some polishing when it comes to big occasions, it's like we lose that swagger that saw us beating teams at a canter between September and December.

Wasn't confident tonight because I thought it was lost after the 1st leg, whoever won tonight will lose to City in the final anyway.

 

I'd be much more upset if we don't have CL football next season.

Lots of raw emotion but we didn't take our chances and they did. Smith had a gameplan over the 2 legs, we couldn't manage it and its vill who go through. Again highlights we have plenty to work on, Europe will be a kind blessing if we get there but the team is still in need of further enhancing and experience

No doubt that the performance levels have tailed off a bit but this just shows that we are very much a work in progress and still having a far better season than most would have imagined

Just watching the highlights. We were massively unlucky. It was a penalty - I just don't know what VAR is? So many chances. They fluked it. They'll have a day out And a miserable journey back.
