Oxford City FC has a current average home attendance of 982 spectators at The MGroup Stadium during the 2026–27 National League North season.

Official rules for the Emirates FA Cup dictate that away clubs have the right to claim up to 15% of all accommodation (stadium capacity) for their travelling supporters. [1, 2]
However, this allocation is strictly subject to the following conditions:
  • Safety Advisory Group (SAG) Approval: The final number must be cleared by the local SAG, which consists of the local council, police, fire services, and club safety officers. They can reduce this percentage due to segregation requirements, logistics, or general health and safety protocols. [1, 2]
  • 9,000 Ticket Cap: If 15% of a stadium's capacity exceeds 9,000 seats (applicable to major Premier League grounds), the maximum away allocation is capped at 9,000 tickets. [1]
  • Gate Receipts: Regardless of the physical seat allocation, the away club is entitled to a 45% share of the net gate receipts from the match. [1]
Oxford City FC Application
When Oxford City FC hosts an FA Cup tie at The MGroup Stadium, the standard 15% rule mathematically allows for up to 300 away fans based on their official 2,000 capacity ground. For lower-profile qualifying rounds, smaller clubs often operate a "pay-on-the-gate" policy or general online sales without enforcing strict percentage caps unless the fixture is deemed high-risk by local authorities

Has this rule ever been enforced? When was the last time it was?

Can't think.....but i'm sure their Ga few side's who didn't play home advantage and moved to bigger grounds, actually might not be the opposition who they were playing against.........Games at Middlesborough and Palace spring to mind years ago.

In their relatively recent play-off final they gave 550 tickets to away fans and sold out the rest themselves, so I'd imagine it'll be similar as it fits with FA Cup allocations too...

They play miles outside the city

Not so. The ground is on the outskirts of the city, and easier for Leicester fans to get to than Oxford United, being just off the by pass on the north of the city. Capacity is about 3000, which I think has only been reached once (in game to reach National League). There should be several hundred Leicester fans allowed -the opposite end to the bar!) If they win their game in hand they will be top of the National League north. Yes, an artificial pitch which may take some adapting to. Only just avoided relegation last season but some investment in the playing squad has improved results. Assistant coach is Paul Robinson who has played in played in Premier League for WBA 2003ff.

I think this game is a must for TV coverage.

Is this the lowest rank club we will have ever played in a competitive match?

Leatherhead were Isthmian league I think at the time, as were Harlow and Enfield.
