I've just checked. Our figures for last season in the Championship when we signed all those Portugese Mendes players was just £2m.

And again, he's not listed as the intermediary for any of them, nor is anyone working for his agency with exception of the Jota signing, so the figures do not relate to him at all.

I guess every club must be doing it then if it's that obvious and easy to get away with.

Well yeah, a lot of them probably are. I would imagine every club towards the top end of football manipulates their accounts and dealings in one way or another to make them look better. We're no doubt one of them. The difference is, the owners of most clubs probably aren't in a business partnership with an agent and there's no point trying to downplay the link when it's so well documented. I don't think there's really any point in having this conversation with you so I'll leave it there.

Don't be an idiot mate. You know full well that that isn't including everything.

Around 100m spent more than Newcastle and you think that you've spent less in agent fees despite the world knowing you're in bed with the world's most powerful agent? lol

Can only be pleased for Wolves, its good to see "change", like we should know.

Any kind of malcontent from our fanbase regarding Wolves is a bit sad and a lot small time.

I also have no idea on the financials or relationship with their super agent, so would rather not speculate/slander.

....anyway, it was inevitable - was once told it was "Gods Country"...

My observation that Wolves are likeliest to crack the “Big Six” was based on only one thing.  Thanks to FFP, a club needs not only huge foreign money (more than KP money) but also a fresh angle.  Fosun Group taking a direct stake in Mendes’ business is that angle.  It gave Wolves preferred access to players, and at lower cost.  Also, if Wolves ownership are paying themselves some of the agent’s fees, they have endless room to fudge those numbers y’all have been quoting.

IMO this is just a morass.  With agents now tied up with the owners, who is to represent the interests of the players?  That the Premier League would approve such a direct, fundamental conflict of interest says too much to be ignored, even by the honest fan who just wants to enjoy the football.

Wolverhampton were the first English club I was exposed to (my freshman roomie had lived there and was a huge fan).  And they can be easy on the eye.  But I cannot bring myself to pull for them today.  Spuds are banter, but they are an honest club.  I see Wolves in a more sinister light.

Tottenham Hotspur made a world-record profit of £113m after tax last season.

The figure tops the £106m profit posted by Premier League rivals Liverpool earlier this year.

Yearly financial results for 2017-18 reveal Spurs' income climbed from £310m to £380m thanks to player sales, bigger crowds at Wembley Stadium and reaching the Champions League knockout stages.

lol Wolves.

Did you hear the commentary when they beat United "they have taken the PL by force" or something along those lines.

When you're spending big money on players from the likes of Porto when you're in the Championship then I'd expect to be a force when they come up. I've got more admiration for the job Warnock has done, even more so if he keeps Cardiff up.

Is it actually that surprising? The bottom two are amongst the worst ever teams in this division whilst the third were expected to have as many points as the bottom two have managed.

Everyone between 7th and 17th has beaten a top six team this season haven't they?

To lose all 31 is surprising for me. Not even managing a draw against any of them.

Which is weirder, the odd obsession with Spurs or Wolves on here?

They're not top of my *dislike* table (clubs like Forest and Millwall are streets ahead for obvious reasons) but I do understand why Spurs and Wolves annoy so many. They do seem to attract a certain type of arrogant fan with high levels of entitlement mixed with delusion. Well I've met a few like that and I guess others here have done so too.

I reckon some of the Wolves dislike is jealously which is daft as we won the f ucking league three years ago, but they're probably going to finish 7th and have gone further in the FA Cup than we have for about 50 years in their first season up. Before they got promoted it was mostly us touted by others as being the 7th best team and now we've got some competition. I can see a rivalry growing to something quite big over the coming seasons as we're similar sized clubs with big ambitions but most of all the other midlands clubs are wank

This can still be true whether there's loads of hype or not.

For their fans, they must be loving it and they do play good football. They're a very well-drilled, well-organised side and have some very good players. Yeah they may be talked about a lot because of the Portuguese influence, the Jorge Mendes connection and the amount of money spent, but that's what football is these days. It's not like they're being hyped to the point where they are being labelled the greatest PL team but end up being like a Sunderland. There's some justification for the Wolves love-in. I'd rather have them in the league than the likes of Huddersfield who are boring as fvck.

Also, you can't really use 'knocked them out of the (League) cup' when they have reached an FA Cup Semi-Final and earnt a trip to Wembley which is something we've craved for ages. Yeah we knocked them out the League Cup but I'd bet we would love to be in their position (in the respective cups) so hardly a stick to beat them with.

Agree totally....

we have become the " Schadensfreude- forum" of the PL. Our fans of at least this forum, becoming and sounding like exactly the type of fans,we once disliked

and demeaned in the past!!!

Wolves should be complimented for their displays and performances on their return to the PL. I might be a bit envious, but not jealous, especially on their FA cup

results and how far they have gone.. That either Watford/Wolves/Brighton could lift the trophy, can only be good for all fans. I would prefer that Man.city stolper,in this competition. Let again underdogs Nick a trophy from the big boys....!!!

this complaining, whining & moaning over other clubs, has become quite pathetic, trying to find financial or corrupt reasons to dislike and stir up hate campaigns against other clubs!!!

Sorry it's just not my world, this distain or hate, outside humerous disgruntled banter in the sporting world ....is not now I was brought up to expect from myself or others....I was proud of English fair play and show respect to the opposition...because if they are always considered  shit, we can only be the asshole who defeats them...and those symptoms come from within So why bother!!!

Spurs have what  looks like a great stadium...the costs good or bad,..I just don't care!!!

Wham. Tom foolery and swinging the led,I just don't care...

Wolves or Watfords so called manipulations,I just don't care...

Leicesters, Duty free Thailand manoeuvres I just don't care....

Now Stuart Broad, wanting to win the Ashes, the World cup,and all competitions is fair....

But carrying a Forest tea mug,and mentioning their name ,while talking cricket...well that's just down right treason and borders on pornographic...!!!

Wolves manager Nuno Espirito Sanchez will both get honourable mentions when the awards are handed out.

Nuno, in particular, has impressed me.

Impressed you so much you don't even know his fvcking name.

I think this one is going to be very tight. I would not be surprised if it goes to penalties - but I do think the Hornets will edge it.

Lawro's prediction: 1-1 - Wolves to win on penalties

Did he write this in the pub?

What a total and utter disgrace. Really is time agent's fees were taxed at 99%. They offer nothing positive to the game whatsoever. All that money could have been invested in the grass roots of the game instead of lining the pockets of some totally ********** people.

Since this is now the Wolves thread here's a graphic I found on r/soccer:

My understanding of Wolves on viewing limited games is that they are very, very strong when a team attacks and leaves space, but woeful against physical and defensive teams, not good at breaking sides down that defend. A little like us under Puel at times. Hence the above records. Is this correct @The Bear?
