Even as we try and get our house in order under whatever financial rules we come under, cash flow and going concern is a major obstacle I don't see how we overcome without us basically falling in to administration which is awful business and no guarantee we get to rise from the ashes.

 

Administration brings horrendous implications to people involved at the club and the community but the ownership have far less ability to get a valuation for what they are " owed " that reflects what they put in or think a club is worth. Other creditors also face the unfortunate outcome of not getting everything they are owed and whilst we are not completely privy to our massive credit facilities with Macquarie, that relationship and cycle we are in is why I struggle to see how we can be prosperous again any time soon.

 

The vast sales we have made and still need to make is highly likely to be our last summer of having the requisite players to be able to command such fees to keep the club going and again that further questions the true value of this club beyond a nice shiny training ground that costs obscene wedge to run and a run of the mill stadium. We are relying on a healthy number of bright academy prospects performing at a lower league next season and getting us promoted or building a reputation big enough for us to command similar fees to what the likes of Monga has gone for this sunmer and Kasey the year before.

 

At some point when we get even more vulnerable, clubs are going to take such players for far less and then it really is game over.

 

I hope i'm wrong, but I remain convinced we will be perilously close to going bust in the next 18 months. 

Well yes I’ve been saying the exactly the same thing as you. 
 

TLDR of that is who would want to buy us and a barn sale is going to keep us going for another year after that we’re in deep shit and all the accessible income sources have been exhausted. 
 

And that’s if Leeds fail to get 8 figures out of us. 
 

Which is why it doesn’t matter who this buyer is we need them and hopefully it goes through.

I also think the Premier League PSR regime might start coming under some pressure in the next few years, in which case having someone competent in charge becomes increasingly important if we ever want to compete with the big boys again.

“We don’t make sense to purchase” no football club makes sense to purchase, they almost all make massive losses.

 

They’re bought because people want a seat at the table, personal/brand awareness, sportswashing and for egos.

 

We’re a premier league club in all but name but as a distressed asset we’ll be much cheaper - if you back yourself to install the right team we’re a better purchase than say, Norwich (even if we’re more expensive) because there’s proof of concept as a top 8 PL club.

Yeah, I’m not so convinced myself. 
 

As I’ve said elsewhere the have several creadible points and their timing is fantastic as they can now say look how good Leicester City are when they play by the rules. They shouldn’t have been anywhere near the top six 

 

I mean we do have good defence points as well but ultimately the Burnley case has set a precedent and that’s a precedent we’d need to break.

I don't think that it's applicable in this case. Burnley argued that had the points deduction that Everton received been applied in the same season of the rule infringement then it would have changed the outcome of the season. Had we gotten our points deduction in the same season we broke the rules, we still would have finished above Leeds.

Of course it could get worse with new owners. 

 

But it will get worse with King Power, because they either do not want to or cannot finance the club's losses any more. Which is presumably why they are looking to sell.

Whether there is or isn't is not the point. It's whether or not there is a buyer that ticks more boxes than KP and I think there is.
