Do you think perhaps he’s done all that before he went away? Can’t officially sign players yet anyway.  I’m not  saying he does a good job, or that I appreciate any of his decision making , but I can tell you he does work hard.

Working hard =\= working diligently. Personally I can't stand the workaholic types like him that are always busy but never put any thought into things.

By taking on the OH Leuven and king power racing jobs he has ensured that he will never have the time to do any more than a surface level job here. On first glance it seems commendable that he's covering all these areas but from a Leicester city perspective he is no better than a lazy person who hardly shows up. The Leicester City DoF job alone should take up more time than there is available in a working week.

Rudkin taking on more work than he can handle isn't a good excuse for him going on holiday in the period he is needed most every year.

Isn't the whole point that he is not the LCFC DOF?

Gonna go out on a limb here and say he probably will get us out of the league but there's a few caveats/things to note:

- it's not an appointment planning for the future

- it doesn't mean it's a good one

- it won't be pretty. Having spoken to Southampton and Rangers fans, it's not going to be an exciting way of going up

- it further emphasises the lack of direction and strategy and vision from the club to adapt. Possession football in his style isn't the way forward. It's not a novelty any more and too many sides know how to combat it.

- the club still clearly don't give a shit what fans think; every man and his dog know Martin is not a legitimately positive appointment.

- what do we do with him when we go up? He's not succeeded at this level and seems to be universally disliked because of how he plays his football, or due to his 'philosophy'.

I can't say I've paid much attention to his recruitment but he's nowhere near the first person I'd look to to be in charge of a rebuild at what is such a crucial time for our club.

He's not some guaranteed promotion specialist. He's finished mid table or worse in all his jobs bar the Southampton promotion.

And do you mean if we go up twice?

So potentially we have the chance to hire a manager who hasn’t finished below 5th in league 1 or hire someone who’s highest finish in the division is 13th.
You really couldn’t make it up with these clowns.

Yeah wasn't clear. Probably get us up out of League One. And then struggle in Championship.

I think he prefers to use younger players so we won't be signing players like Ayew (if we can sign players lol).

This about it that I can think of. We needed to move away from pass for passing sake football, and this was a good time to reset that. But alas the club have shot themselves in the foot.

Whatever we think of his style of play, I’m actually going to throw a bit of positivity out there on Martin’s recruitment.

Looking through his spells at MK Dons, Swansea and Southampton, quite a few of his signings have been quite encouraging, and you can clearly see the thought process behind them in alignment with his philosophy.

At MK Dons for example, Matt O’Reilly, Harry Darling and Scott Twine all came in under his leadership.

He’s signed a few experienced players during his managerial spells, but in terms of quite a few of his younger signings, dare I say it, I’m quite impressed.

He won't be all bad, just like Dave Challinor wouldn't be all good.

Really hope the fans get behind the new boss and give them a fair shake. The toxic atmosphere helps nobody.

That’s one thing I will give him for his time here, he created a really exciting team that almost managed to go up when you added in just a bit more attacking will. A lot of our ire at MK comes from his abandonment of the team basically on the day of our first competitive game of the season, a cup game against Bournemouth, leaving us in limbo after we’d all been pretty excited to come back and challenge at the top.

That being said, there was still a lot of frustration over his style and his tactics so it’s not all pure bitterness.

Everytime you think it can't possibly get any worse, Top and Jon find a way. This will be a disaster. It's already a disaster in terms of reuniting the fan base. It will be an absolutely laughable move if it happens.

There's only a need to reunite the fanbase if you believe that there's a divide.

They do not believe there is a divide. They've got 22,000 season ticket solds. Business as usual.

My worry is that we've still got the same numpties in charge above Martin. And will we see him 'stifled' from getting his own players, or will we not have learnt from the past few seasons and end up paying more than we should (in wages at least) for players who won't give us much in return.

The whole direction needs ripping up. And while it's not Martin's fault how we've been run as a club in the past few seasons at the very least, I don't think he comes in and changes much in recruitment.

Would imagine there's a fair few that will regret buying a Season Ticket if this comes to pass. The crafty sods made sure they were all sold before springing this piss take on the fan base.

Being honest, if it does end up being Martin, then he’ll need to get off to a very hot start. A large section of this fanbase just despise his style of play.

The only bit of hope to cling on to is Maresca’s season. Looking back, a few of his signings were idiotic in terms of the wages we paid, but from an alignment point of view, we made numerous signings that season that fitted perfectly with his style of play.

If we can see similar alignment this summer, then I think building a squad that fits Martin’s philosophy is actually doable.

Are we convinced this is a done deal now then? For as many ‘stories’ (in the loose sense of the word) that say it’s edging closer, there are other just as reputable clowns say it’s not.

It’ll have to come to a head pretty imminently one way or the other I’d have thought.

Everything wrong with the owner and senior management. Out of touch with reality. Unfortunately for us, we just have to sit back and see the mess, play out.

I'm more convinced every day this club is some sort of psyop to manipulate and mess with fanbase emotions

  • Outgoing information is initially restricted to Happy Birthday messages
  • Plan a 5000/1 celebration whilst completely ignoring the fact the club is back in League 1 for only the 2nd time in its history
  • Leak info about the planned sale of Jeremy Monga knowing any proceeds will be used to plug an accounting whole or pay Harry Winks' wages
  • Now we are drip fed Russell Martin rumours.... knowing the last time this happened there were protests on the terraces and death 'threats'

What comes next I wonder?

They will favour Martin because he got Southampton promoted to the premier league, Aiyawatt still thinks we are in the championship…

Does Martin have the cojones to take the board on once his feet are under the table? Does he have the authority to drive the club forward like Pearson did?

We need someone who will grab this board by the scruff of the neck and kick a few tables over. It’s the only way the board will learn.
