Be funny though if they did end up relegated but still managed to win the CL this season anyway.

premier league are actually in quite a precarious position…  I suppose if they punish Man City too hard ( in Man city’s eyes) their  owners can just bank role the creation of the super league and bugger off for good. Which isn’t that bad, really… but who would go with them? The collapse of the tv deal would have a catastrophic consequence for the rest of English football..

The PL have backed themselves into a corner though to save their own ass from an independent financial regulator.

 

PSG have done exactly the same with their Qatari takeover, were in the same football leaks emails, got away with the same UEFA 2014 negotiated FFP settlement as City. 

 

The only difference is the French league haven't pursued PSG like the PL. 

 

The PL are going to look fcuking ridiculous if they do nothing after almost 10 years of legal battles. 

 

Its always been political, even more so now the former major of Manchester is now PM.

 

The political card would have been played along time ago and would have killed it dead in 2018, instead of the PL pursing 4 years of legal battles to eventually bring a case against City. 

 

Integrity to their own detriment is what the British do best😂

Man City aren’t a big 6 club in terms of fan base if you takeaway the glory hunters of the last 18 years. They need the EPL more than the EPL needs them.

The Saudi league and LIV golf have both fallen flat on their face, to varying extents, and I would be surprised if any breakaway didn’t do the same. Any detriment to the English game would be short lived IMO.

Honestly,  if nothing happens every team. Other team that have had ffp breaches or have had point taken away should sue the premier league/efl. Do think they messed up big time trying to make an example of the smaller club who deared to dream.

Realistically nothing will happen as it's all money and viewers and like others mentioned the PL are not going to sacrifice that for integrity.

 

Personally think they should let the 'big 6' go off and start a super league and revise the psr / FFP rules and reboot the football pyramid.

 

Get some competition and integrity back into the game and help give it back to the fans who have been squeezed and rinsed dry with ticket prices.

The way I see it, is its not so much 'Man City' as a club, they could be any wealthy club who've bought success. 

 

If Man City being demoted gets Man Utd closer to the title and Haaland is suddenly up top for Liverpool, nothing changes and Man City are pretty quickly forgotten. There's plenty of other big and bigger clubs in the league to keep it an interesting and valuable league.

Honestly, it's got a 25-30 point deduction written all over it. Enough that the Premier League can effectively say that they've handed out the biggest points deduction in English football history, but not enough to result in Man City getting relegated.

That’s how I see it too… their biggest challenge is making the points per offence add up, they may end up simply bottling it and making up a number and not offering a breakdown

They will take just enough points off Man City so that they have an outside chance of making some kind of European football this season. Because, how much interest will it garner if against all the odds, Man City still turn it round to make europa league or something.  The premier league will still want to keep things exciting

I suspect they'll wait until late in the season and give Man City an "unprecedented" points deduction (i.e. about 25-30 points and they finish comfortably in mid-table).

Unless this case is very different to all the others - isn't it the Independent Commission that determines the punishment, not the PL?

I thought it was the Premier League that determines the punishment and an independent commission looks at any appeal. Genuinely not sure though.

but why would you take away the ‘ Glory Hunters?’

 

right now in this forum we have members who started supporting us around the time of our league win and are still with us in the dark times.  You have fans who are growing up who know nothing but Man City at the top- they will be with them until they die.
 

and in general size, Arsenal have approximately 120 million followers throughout social media and Man City have 190 million followers throughout social media

 

Wether we like it or not, Man City ARE a big 6 club and they certainly don’t need the premier league more than the prem needs them.

The PL didn't determine our punishment when we got 6 points deduction - the Independent Commission did, for example. 

 

Pretty sure the PL can suggest punishments, formulas for calculating one and present their arguments for X, Y or Z punishment and aggravating factors etc - but they don't determine the punishment itself.

I genuinely don't see any winners in this and fans of other teams getting giddy about it are maybe being a bit naive to think their clubs are squeaky clean. Basically all this does is make the last 15 years of English football null and void in one way or another. If they've cheated then everything they've been involved in is tainted, every team they've taken points from should effectively have those points back etc. 

 

It's a complete mess and a result of the joke ownership rules and FFP which was never fit for purpose. 

 

All in all I think it's a really sad time for football in this country and it's certainly not the game I fell in love with as a kid
