Today was a story ofmissed chances and poor decisions in good areas, however 9 points from 7 games from what has been a fairly kind run of fixtures is extremely disappointing. We are at least 5 points off what should have been the minimum haul, his post match reactions after a couple of games is also making his already difficult job in wining over the fanbase almost impossible and these inconsistent results are certainly not helping matters.

What's good about our play - drawing players into a press, then advancing the ball up the pitch - is also what's so dangerous about it. His style of play is one which makes it very hard to be in control of a game even when you're seeing way more of the ball. It's a style which is based on massive risk in dangerous areas in order to build your play.

There are thousands of ways of going about the game, many of which allow you to dominate possession. But Martin's take on the possession-heavy approach has never, at any level, looked like a consistently effective interpretation. It's ineffective at its core and, in KP terms, definitely not a 'sustainable' brand of football (if you remember that proclamation back in 2017).

After chasing him for yonks, there’s no way after finally landing him Top will admit that his appointment is a master cluster duck and sack him. An absolute travesty appointing him in the first place and now we’re stuck with him. On the plus side o think he’s good enough to keep us up so we won’t have 3 relegations in a row. Top work Top 👍

Worst Manger Rangers ever had since 1872. Over 150 years and several dud managers before him and he still broke ancient records

That speaks volumes I guess!

The football is more dangerous around our box than it is in the opposition box. Multiple games now we break through the opposition press, we almost outnumber them defence v attack, and then we ponder, take our time, pass backwards and all the opposition do is filter back making it 10 times harder to create a clear chance.

Ive seen alot of people say we just need to take our chances, which yes in a 1 off incident is fine, when hes done this everywhere hes gone, has a back catalogue spanning 3 previous clubs where hes had the same results on repeat, chances are its probably him and his tactics causing this.

Its so easy to play against its an absolute dream for these opposition managers, you know exactly what to do, sit in and just wait for the inevitable mistake, theres so much evidence of how to beat him its embarrassing that anyone would even appoint him.

My expectations when he came in were low, but I still thought just through the quality of players we would have at our disposal, we could find a way, but hes even shitter than I expected, which is actually incredible. Quite fitting that should the sale of the club go through their last appointment was the worst of them all.

Too much of a compliment calling it champagne football. It's crap.

For me the most depressing thing is not the results, not the pathetic game management and not even the dire football, it's knowing that this proven sh!t manager won't be sacked no matter how bad it gets - until it's too late.

I do have to say, as someone who hates Martin and his style of play...

That team he put out today was more than good enough to win, and is probably just about the best team we could have fielded (inc the likes of Faes)

The absolutely woeful misses of Alves & Cullen cost us more than Martins tactics / team selection today in my opinion.

I rate Alves, and i still think he was one of the better players out there, but wow, can't be missing a chance like that and not get punished.

You are correct but only to a certain extent.  If a team has over 80% possession against a team of 10 men for the majority of the match it should be creating several if not many chances to win the game.  2 misses out if over 600 passes shows it’s all on the manager and his style of football.  We are more dangerous and likely to see a goal with the ball in our box than in and around the oppositions.

I get that, but win 3-0, or even 3-1, no one bats an eyelid and its a good result.

Our 2 misses were criminal.

Alves miss was a shocker.

Cullen had 90% of the goal to aim for, and chose the 10% taken up by the keeper - and thats generous.

Having now watched his football in more detail than I had previously, it’s very clear how his Southampton team got so spanked in the Prem. Play that way against Prem quality finishers and we’d ship multiple goals every week.

They were poor misses that’s true but Barnsley had just as many good chances toward the end, our keeper tipped one over the bar to save us and they had a player less and less than 20% possession to make the same amount of chances and score the same number of goals.  A result would have been the same as last week and just papering over the cracks.  We are doomed as long as we have RM as a manager

Brilliant send off from the fans today.

He'll be gone by Monday.

You have too much faith in our board, I’m afraid. They’ll sack him without a replacement lined up once promotion / staying up is almost impossible.

He will be sacked at some point this season it just depends on if they wait too long. (They will)

It'll come too late to give us a chance of being promoted. Unsure if it'll quite spiral into a relegation battle, but it isn't beyond the realms of possibility. I've not forgotten that in January people were still talking of the play-offs last season.

If I know anything about this regime it's that we'll win at the wrong times and we'll lose when it's too late. If we lose handily at Stockport there's a chance he's sacked afterwards. He didn't. If he's sacked after a loss at Stockport, do we make up those lost 3 points over the course of the season? Based on most of this seasons evidence I would say so.

Unfortunately they've had a hard on for him for ages. So he will get far longer than he deserves. Wycombe have already sacked their manager, and are already level on points with us.

We are run by people who couldn't be more clueless if they were trying to be.

I whinged on here when i got our of the Stadium but im even more angry seeing his interview.

His style completely works against players. Through possession and overplaying we work about 4-5 times harder than the opposition without achieving much.

Our players actually look decent on the counter, and i bet they would take more chances too. But is possession at all costs and that physically and mentally drains them.

Genuinely hate him, because i dont think he can see what the problem is, and loves the overplaying.

It's definitely like his time at Rangers all over again for sure!!

Rangers fans were more vociferous which is no surprise but they did at least act in October and get their season back on track. November is pretty much best case scenario for us here. As feared post Oxford he's done 'just' enough.

Least they got Percy to write them a nice article so they can pat themselves on the back at what a good job they’ve done!

Sorry. 'Possession at all costs' is not Champagne football, and none of us on here should pretend it is. Its daft, pointless and puts unnecessary pressure on the players. Even when people tell me 'we played nice stuff' i think its disgustingly overplayed and unnecessary nonsense.

All the management team should watch that second half a few times. 84% possession against 10 men with far superior players. But fixated to keeping the ball and playing fixed patterns of player that start at the back. That 2nd half is proof that you need to be able to adapt your game to the circumstances in front of you, which RM wont. Ever.

I agree, complete Bozo, but for different reasons.
